The Learning
Corridor’s
4th Annual Fund-Raising Gala
"Dream
On"
On Wednesday,
June 14th,
beginning at 5:30PM invited guests
and friends will walk through
a lighted tent surrounded by
participating restaurants of
the Connecticut Restaurant’s
Association. The Learning
Corridor’s Big Event: “Dream
On”will be
its fourth major fundraising
event. The event’s
major sponsor is St. Paul Travelers,
contributing $50,000 for the
third year. This will be
a fun event to support one of
Hartford’s brightest stars-The
Learning Corridor. The vision
that became a reality with the
collaboration of a community
and its many partners has become
a true “Corridor of Dreams”.
This
special event promises to be
filled with good cheer, good
food and good company. The Connecticut
Restaurant Association has
adopted the event, and will be
highlighting their finest restaurants
(Max Restaurant Group, Costa
Del Sol Restaurante, Carmen Anthony
Restaurant Group, Hot Tomato’s
Restaurant Group, Pastis, O’Porto,
and Tapas). Libations,
coffee and deserts have also
been donated (Future Brands,
LLC/ABSOLUT, Hartley & Parker
Limited Inc., Modern Pastry and
Baronet Coffee and Beanery).
The “Dream
On” Honorary
Chairs are Senators
Christopher Dodd and Joseph Lieberman,
Congressman John Larson and Congresswoman
Nancy Johnson. Governor
M. Jodi Rell, Mayor Eddie Perez,
and Lt. Governor Kevin B. Sullivan, are
the event Chairpersons and
will all attend this event. Pamela
Churchill, VP of Development
and Marketing at The Learning
Corridor says, “$120,000
dollars will be raised in support
of the Learning Corridor’s
operations and special programs
on campus. We invite all
to join us in being a part of
this event and celebrating one
of Hartford’s biggest win”.
At
this event we will be dedicating
a sculpture here on campus to
our long-time friend and leadership
council member, Millard Pryor.
The sculpture titled, Pull
Toy , by Tash Taskale is
being dedicated in honor of Mr.
Pryor for his dedication to the
arts and the welfare of children
in the greater-Hartford region.
Believing
in the responsibility of business
to the arts and education, Millard
Pryor dedicated his energies
and resources to the many cultural
and educational institutions
in the Hartford region and beyond. Millard
and his wife, Claire, both served
on the Leadership Council of
The Learning Corridor. He
offered valuable insights and
support to many different aspects
of this venture. This sculpture
will stand at The Learning Corridor
in his honor.
The
Learning Corridor is a 16-acre
campus consisting of a unique
cluster of schools; the Montessori
Magnet Elementary School, Hartford
Magnet Middle School, the Greater
Hartford Academy of Math & Science,
and the Greater Hartford Academy
of the Arts all managed by the
Capitol Region Education Council. Also
included on the campus are support
programs for the youth-- a Boys
and Girls Club and the Aetna
Center for Families. There
is no other public school campus
in the country that combines
these elements. The Learning
Corridor was developed by a collaborative
effort called the Southside Institutions
Neighborhood Alliance (SINA),
composed of Hartford Hospital,
the Institute of Living, Connecticut
Children’s Medical Center,
Trinity College, and Connecticut
Public Radio, along with the
State of Connecticut and the
City of Hartford.
