First Lady Patty Rowland speaks
at exclusive Learning Corridor Luncheon
Discussing Education and Magnet Schools
HARTFORD , CT. —First Lady Patty Rowland will be speaking on education as she hosts a luncheon at The Learning Corridor Tuesday, April 30 th at 12 noon . She along with 50 of Hartford 's most influential business and community leaders will be discussing education and magnet schools. Also attending, just to name several, will be Mayor Eddie Perez and Trinity College 's new President Richard Hersh.
This event is meant to bring Hartford 's leaders together and visit one of the city's rising stars. “The Learning Corridor is only two years old,” says Pamela Churchill, VP of Development & Marketing for The Learning Corridor. “Many people are still unfamiliar with the value that we are bringing to Hartford 's revitalization. The Learning Corridor is an example of how we can act together to create solutions to our problems. Education is an essential building block of our success.”
The Learning Corridor is a 16-acre campus adjacent to the Institute of Living . It comprises four schools encompassing grades pre-K through 12. There is a Montessori Elementary School , a Magnet Middle School , and two Greater Hartford Academies that teach high school-level Math, Science, and the Arts. Also included on the campus are support programs for the youth-- a Boys and Girls Club and the Aetna Center for Families. There is no other public school campus in the country that combines these elements.
The Learning Corridor was created by a collaborative effort involving the leadership of Hartford Hospital , The Institute of Living, Trinity College , Connecticut Public Television, The Connecticut Children's Medical Center and other committed Hartford stakeholders. There's a lot of light shining on The Learning Corridor because it has already become more than an innovative new school system intent on achieving educational goals. It has become a source of pride for Hartford .
The program portion of the luncheon, where Patty Rowland is speaking, begins at 12:45 . The event will take place in the lobby of the Theater of the Performing Arts on the Learning Corridor campus. There will be valet parking on Washington Street across from the Institute for Living.
