The Connecticut Forum presents
"Nicholas Payton at The Learning Corridor"

          ( Hartford , CT — November 27, 2001 ) The Connecticut Forum announces the appearance of Nicholas Payton at The Learning Corridor of Hartford on November 29, 2001.Text Box:            Nicholas Payton is the Grammy-winning Jazz musician who has studied under trumpet master Clark Terry since 1990, and has played regularly with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band. Prior to appearing in The Connecticut Forum's The Power of Music event, Payton will be giving a Presentation to approximately 150 sixth-grade students from The Learning Corridor's magnet middle school, followed by a Master Class for high school music students from The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, all four Hartford high schools, and Conard and Hall high schools in West Hartford.

          This program will be held at The Greater Hartford Academy of The Arts, part of The Learning Corridor, located at 15 Vernon Street near the corner of Washington Street . The Learning Corridor is comprised of four schools encompassing grades pre-K through 12. The Learning Corridor was created by a collaborative effort involving the leadership of Hartford Hospital , The Institute of Living, Trinity Medical Center and other committed Hartford stakeholders. It has become an innovative new school system intent on achieving educational goals, and a great source of pride for Hartford .
