The Hartford Magnet Middle School
(HMMS) brings together 600 students
in grades six through eight from
Hartford and 23 surrounding districts.
We come together, city and suburbs,
with eager minds, a sense of pride,
and a passion for achievement,
to create our Hartford Magnet Middle
School family. We each agree to
take the initiative to transform
obstacles into opportunities.
Guided
by a rich curriculum, we use
our collective knowledge and
gifts to energize our learning
and create a safe haven for growth
and exploration. Through the lens
of arts, sciences and technology
our students produce critical and
creative works in a state-of-the-art
facility. Students also participate
in a variety of “Encore” or
special classes that consist of
everything from Graphic Arts to
Orchestra to swimming. Hartford
Magnet Middle School is also home
of the Marching Phoenix, a 110
member marching band that was recognized
as the “Best All Around Middle
School Band” from the 2005
Hartford Veteran’s Day parade.
Our visual arts program has also
been recognized for its wonderful
achievements and won designs for
both the CREC holiday card and
the Hartford Public Schools holiday
card contests.
In addition to our daily collaboration
with the Greater Hartford Arts
and Science Academies, HMMS enjoys
several partnerships that bring
unique opportunities to our students.
Trinity College is one of our strongest
partnerships; together we share
experiences and opportunities with
students and staff. We have also
been recognized as a NELMS (New
England League of Middle Schools)
Spotlight School and are members
of the Foundation for Excellent
Schools as well. It is with the
support of our community partners,
our students develop the social
and academic skills to succeed
at the region's most competitive
high schools.
