In keeping with the Mission of HMMS, our program of studies is marked by high academic standards, and emphasizes two main themes, math/science/technology, and the arts.  HMMS 6^th graders take __ more hours of science a year and __ more hours of art than their counterparts in other Hartford schools.  In addition, students take a computer technology class all year and regularly use three state of the art computer labs, as well as high-speed Internet access in every single classroom. 

We use a modified block schedule in which students have one double period each day, which allows them more time for hands-on learning and deeper exploration of the concept or skill they’re working on. 

  Our school is organized into small teams of 100 students each, so kids get to know each other well, and are known by their teachers as individuals.
