The Learning Corridor was created by a collaborative effort
involving SINA
(Southside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance) and the
leadership of Trinity
College, Hartford
Hospital and its mental health network The
Institute of Living, The
Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Connecticut
Public Television and Radio, and a host of other committed
Hartford stakeholders including the city of Hartford and the
State of Connecticut. There’s a lot of light shining on The
Learning Corridor, because it has already become more than
an innovative new school system. It has become a source of
pride for Greater Hartford.
The Learning Corridor is a 16-acre
campus nestled between Trinity College and the Institute of
Living. It comprises four public magnet schools encompassing
grades pre-K through 12. There is a Montessori Magnet School,
a Magnet Middle School, and two Greater Hartford Academies
that teach high-level Math, Science, and Arts. These
schools are managed by the Capitol
Region Education Council (CREC). Also included on the
campus are support programs for youth a Boys and Girls
Club, The Aetna Center for Families, and the CT Valley Girl
Scouts Council. There is no other public school campus in
the country that combines these elements.
